Starting
and finishing at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the route is
a complete clockwise circuit of the city of Dubai, encompassing
many major landmarks of architectural and historic significance.
The southern suburbs section of the course is very flat and
fast, with the only change in gradient being when crossing the
Dubai Creek. The course is designed with fast times in mind,
with Paul Hodgson, an international course measurer, comparing
the route favourably with Rotterdam.
Climatic consideration has dictated that the event be held
in January, with an early morning start of 7 am. Temperatures,
however are expected to range from 15-20 C and the provision
of water stations on route is vital for the comfort and welfare
of all competitors.
With the guarantee of perfect weather, a well managed course,
and the knowledge that AIMS membership secures recognition
of your time, travel to Dubai for an attempt at your personal
best time as well as for a marathon experience you will not
forget.
