Australia's friendliest marathon is run over a fast road and linear park trail course. It incorporates the ASA State Title. It is run on an accurately measured course, with count down Km markers provided. As this is a major event they run an exact time finishing system, walk judges scrutinize lead walkers and certificates are sent out after the event. Its an international event, with participants from Japan, the UK, South Africa, Germany and many from interstate.

Marathon starts at Old Adelaide Gaol, Gaol Road, Thebarton

In 2000 on the new course from the historic Old Adelaide Gaol, traveling west to Glenelg and back along the picturesque Torrens Linear Park, Borisslav Devic narrowly missed an Olympic qualifier running 2:22:32. While Patricia Galvin won the ladies in 3:06:39.

The Almere marathon combines a festival of running events with the city of Almere playing host to an eventful marathon and an exciting half marathon and a speedy 10km as well as 5km.

The marathon covers 2 laps of the half marathon course. The course is well marshalled and the water points are well-manned with water, your own drinks (handed in before the event) as well as springwater and fruit.

A great feature after the event is the free massage for all participants. We are sure this is a well kept secret. The venue is a family outing with every distance catered for. The cameradie at the events is splendid with a feeling of togetherness throughout all the events, even when the competition is heated and there is prize money to be won.
