Sound advice. I'll be going into maraton training in a month or so (for Berlin), and the 2k session will also be a good session for that. I feel I have to be properly rested to do a 2k session though, otherwise it only results in frustration and too much fatigue afterwards, which hampers my training.
The only 5k times I have are parts of the 10k that I run, the first 5k in this run were in 17:42, I guess I could do 17:00. I'll try to find an opportunity for that, it needs to be a race though: I need competition to run fast
