According to the latest broadcast intentions for the championships received by European Athletics, there will be at least 730 hours of television coverage in Europe alone over the five days of the championships, including more than 710 hours of live coverage.
With one month to go, broadcasters in 27 European countries have submitted their intentions for the 21st edition of the championships. In addition, pan-European channel Eurosport plans to show the majority of the championships live across its 59 territories.
The total number of hours of expected coverage will continue to increase as intentions from all the remaining rights-holders are received and intentions from outside of Europe are taken into account.
Outside Europe, broadcast deals in Brazil (Bandsport), Mexico (PCTV Mexico), South Africa (SuperSport), Asia-Pacific (Eurosport Asia), Middle East (Dubai Sports Channel) and worldwide with Euronews have been confirmed so far.
“The expected television coverage shows the value broadcasters attach to a European Athletics Championships,” said European Athletics President Hansjörg Wirz. “The figures so far are especially strong considering that these championships will be a compact five days instead of six with no marathons or race walks.”
The championships take place from 27 June to 1 July.
The event is supported by European Athletics’ long-standing international partners SPAR, OMEGA, LE GRUYÈRE and EUROVISION, along with a number of national partners and suppliers.
