Espoo Rantamarathon is famous for its beautiful route which weaves partly along the beautiful shoreline of Espoo, and many runners return to the event each year to enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the running route.
Espoo Rantamarathon Near Helsinki
The ninth edition of Espoo Rantamarathon takes place 17.-18.9.2016 in Espoo, Otaniemi. Otaniemi is located near the border of Helsinki and is the home of the Aalto University and is considered the hub of technical science and innovation in Finland.
The event provides distances to everyone’s liking. Marathon and half marathon will take place on Saturday 17th September. The shorter distances of 10 km and 5 km as well as the kids 1 km will be run on Sunday 18th. There is no timing for the 5 km distance.
The event has gathered around 5,500 enthusiastic runners together during the past few years which guarantees a great atmosphere and the feeling of a bigger event.
The different distances are mostly run on cycle lanes and paths, partly on asphalt and partly on gravel. The marathon route has got a few considerable hills on the first half which evens out towards the second half whereas the half marathon route is relatively even and quick. The organisers provide rabbits for the marathon and half marathon to guide and ease your race.
There is an expo taking place during the race weekend and the organisers have brought old fashioned hot tubs to the finish area for all the runners to enjoy after their race.
