After the planned buildup and marathon, I'm now looking to get back some 10k speed. Over the first few months of the year, I was able to get in some decent mileage, leading up to a 3:19 marathon last month. I was pleased with the performance, given that it was my first real attempt at the distance, and there was about 1000 ft of climbing over the first half.
However, I haven't done any speed work in about 6 months. The plan is to focus on shorter distances over the spring/summer, with the primary goal being a 6-mile race end of July (same one I was training for when I first joined the forums last year). In the fall I'll shift back to marathon training toward another one in December.
I'm not too sure where my 10k pace is these days, and I think it may have fallen off considerably. So, where to start?
