Not a smart 5km paced run this morning. Legs felt surprisingly good at the start and I didn't rein myself in. Ended up running 17:20 (Avg HR 170, max 178), not a 5km effort but not 10km either, would have paid with interest if that was a race.
Splits:
3:26 (avg HR 156, max 166)
3:26 (avg HR 169, max 173)
3:26 (avg HR 174, max 177)
3:30 (avg HR 175, max 177)
3:32 (avg HR 176, max 178)
Interestingly, I got a new watch (Garmin 620) that gives me 'Running Dynamics' data in addition to HR data when I wear the belt, that's cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time. My average cadence for the run was 191 spm.
So from here it's just the rundown to the 15km race on 3rd May, I think I can challenge my PB, 55:41 (I lost time when my shoelace got untied at 13km that day), and I believe on a good day I can go under 55:00. That's my goal, 3:40/km and see what happens.
Have a good weekend
Cheers
