Hi Flrunner and welcome to the forums
regarding adapting this to a marathon, we have plans to apply a plan of action towards the marathon for those who have been using the 10k training programs and who would like to run a marathon.
as is the 10k programs are not sufficient for a marathon
in the 3 week cycle you would need to introduce a long run of at least 30km into the program early on, so that the runner has the long run as normal
the future plan is to then switch to the 10k onto Marathon program with 6 weeks to go, where distance plays the key part of the program however we keep the 5 x 2k session
as mentioned, this has been planned only for those runners who have gone through a few 10k cycles and have also been through the build up routine.
After the build-up routine, the runner maintains the 1hr runs as standard and as part of the 10k cycle
so the weekly mileage is already higher
here's hoping this all makes sense, so do ask questions for clarity
