Tallon, your development, is looking very promising

when is that week when you can't run much?

TheEd

Sub40 goal midlife crisis? - Tallon - 19-02-2017

Hello TheEd
this will be next week (27/2 till 5/3). The 10k race is april 2nd.
Kind regards,

Sub40 goal midlife crisis? - TheEd - 22-02-2017

that should work out OK, you could consider doing a one week Build-up or 1hr runs only during that week

your development is happening now, and it is nice to see the progress

Hello TheEd:
Hope you are doing well Smile

after 1 week of no running and 1 week of 1 hour runs, I'm now on the last cycle before the race. Today's 2k sesión was :
3'57 160bpm
3'56 163bpm
3'55 167bpm
3'55 168bpm
3'48 174bpm

Not sure if this will be enough for the race!
Kind regards,

remem, it is all about your race experience on the day, what you have learned and what you can now apply

Sub40 goal midlife crisis? - Tallon - 03-04-2017

Hello TheEd:
after 16 months on the program yesterday was the big test :
officially finished in 39'36 but on my watch i averaged 4'01 a distance of 9km81. Conditions were around 20ºC no wind. Felt in control until km 6 with paces
3'47 bpm 149
3'59 bpm 168
3'54 bpm 176
4'03 bpm 161
3'57 bpm 180 (long upwards slope)
in km6 which was going down the same slope i kept pushing to catch a group and then started pulling at my group thinking we were going to slow
3'52 bpm 182
and arrived way too tired into the last 4km of the race which had tiny slopes and curves, where i broke down, really suffering in km 8 and 9 thinking i would not make it anymore and loosing my group.
4'05 bpm 182
4'19 bpm 179
4'22 bpm 176
starting the last km saw the finish near and thought i could still make it and gave it all
3'58 bpm 179
Will do this week easy running and start a cycle next week aiming at another
10k end of the month. After that not sure, probably will need to do the base program as I have been on the cycles for a long time now.
Long term plans are to keep training in the hot months and summer and continue to improve for next year on the programs.
Thank you so much TheEd for this program and continuous advice :notworthy: Wink

nice going Tallon, and great for you to have achieved your goal

you have worked well and have stuck to the task, and have endured a few of the down periods as well, to come back stronger

nice

what we can consider is increasing the long run distance and tweeking a few more things, once you get onto the Build-up

on we go

Hi Tallon, how are things progressing?

recovered and fresh

Hello TheEd
thanks for asking. Hoping you are having a good summer so far Smile
Since April the 3 days off have been more like 1 month off and inconsistent easy running. Weight has gone up 5kg. Mentally fresh I have now finished one cycle and into the second week of the next cycle, but with results not proud to show (around 4'20 the 2k series). Will see where we can go from now. Logical goal would be to go under 39' but not sure if I want to go for it.
Kind regards

great to hear you back into it

be gentle on yourself, use your experience to your benefit

small goals first which are attainable and then see how things go
