Sub40 goal midlife crisis? - Tallon - 29-10-2016

Hello TheEd:
thanks for the follow up.
-Weight has been between 75-77kg during the last months. Nutrition is definitely something I need to work on.
-I have never monitored morning pulse rate?
-Have always been running 1hr at least on the easy runs.

Just to clarify im still 100% motivated and will keep goingSmile

this weeks 5x2k results (on running track, on the road it's i guess 10 sec slower) (heart rate values do not seem accurate):
2k 3'56 bpm 143
2k 4'04 bpm 143
2k 4'09 bpm 154
2k 4'07 bpm 146
2k 4'04 bpm 147

Regards

Tallon, good to hear you mentally strong Smile

your 2k session projects to a faster 10k than your last 10k race

your pulse doesn't go that high during the 2k session, looking forward to the 1k feedback

on we go

Hello TheEd,
this and coming months there are races almost every weekend so cannot complete the cycles by the letter.
The last 1k session was a mess and can't post results. The 5k paced run was substituted with a 2k race in just 7'00min, happy with this. Today I raced a 7,5km cross in 32min @ 4'18 and bpm 173. Also happy with this result
Next cycle starting tomorrow. Next saturday on the long distance run day i have another 2k race, will try to do both the 2k and the long distance run same day.
Kind regards

Tallon, good to hear you feeling happy about your sessions

for the next long run, put it on the Sunday, the day after the 2k run

enjoy and keep up the good work

Thank you TheEd, will do that.
Something crazy happened today with the 2k session :
2k 3'59 bpm 156
2k 3'58 bpm 158
2k 3'59 bpm 164
2k 3'55 bpm 167
2k 3'45 bpm 173
Still it was on running track, so cheating, and the temperature was nice and cool, but this is the first time i stayed under 4'00 so very happy and confidence got boosted Smile
Kind regards,

Hey Tallon,

What an impressive account of your journey. I read every bit of your thread.

Can't wait for your post that tells us you've broken the 40 minute barrier!

Oh, those sessions in those crazy summer temperatures is astounding, to say the least. You have some great resilience for discomfort.

Your thread sheds light on the path I'm on, and like you, I have hopes in tackling the sub 40 program.

Cheers,
Jhansen

Hello TheEd
thank you. I have also been Reading the MMS thread. Very inspiring Smile It was interesting to read about the "switch" and mental part.
Fyi I have consulted a nutritionist and will follow a healthier diet now. Much nutritional information is available on your website anyway. My actual fat% is estimated an 11% and my weight 73,8kg (BMI 22,8)

Thanks you Jhansen for the encouraging words: I hope you will enjoy your journey as well and will find the time and patience to keep going. Good luck Smile

Kind regards,

There is a very definite switch, and this is what leads to understanding running and applying it in events

onwards and forwards

Last race day was a 1500m race in 4'52 @3'15 pace. Last year same race was done in 5'17 @3'31 pace.

New cycle was started this week. The 2k session was done outside the track on the real road and worse times were to be expected :
2k @4'01 bpm 159
2k @4'10 bpm 135
2k @4'07 bpm 137
2k @4'09 bpm 145
2k @4'03 bpm 142
Pulse measurements were definitely not accurate, TomTom wrist pulse meter does that often; they are way too low for the perceived difficulty.

Kind regards
