Athletics South Africa wants to extend condolences to friends and family of Mr. Zamile Msali, President of Athletics Transkei, who recently passed away. He has been in and out of hospital after a car accident that left him paralyzed two years ago.
He was involved in athletics since primary school and became involved in middle distance running in high school. After high school he became a teacher and got involved with school sport. Mr. Msali made a big contribution to athletics over the years and was the founder of Nozizwe Athletics Club. In 2004 Mr. Msali applied to the Lotto and received funding for Cross Country development at Athletics Transkei.
Some achievements include the status of SA and IAAF coach and in 2005 he led a national team to Marocco. Msali was also actively involved in developing other IAAF coaches including Mxolisi Sentse, Xolisa Mlindazwe and Thembisa Siyatsha.
National and international athletes who have trained under him include Zolani Bitani, Zolile Bitani, Nomsa Ntsethe, Vuyokazi Mabhude, Sityhilo Diko and Anele Zondwayo
The funeral will take place on 12 November 2011 at Lukholo A/A, Mbizana in the Eastern Cape at 10:00 and will be open to everybody that wishes to attend. Athletics Transkei can be contacted for more information.
