The Lanzarote Wine Run 2014, set-off from La Geria, and would finish in the carnival surroundings in the village of Mancha Blanca.
Those who were running would firstly need to negotiate the 23.6 km course that had been set out through the vineyards of the various ‘bodegas’ and across terrains that were ‘tricky’ underfoot for much of the journey.
This certainly did not trouble, Aroa Merino, who was undoubtedly the star of the show. She would obliterate the Women’s field and would eventually finish 6th overall in a time of 1:31:31.
For the men, Lanzarote’s very own Olympian of 2010, and the local favourite, José Carlos Hernández, made light footed work of the course placed before him, winning in a time of 1:26:25 ahead of previous winner and Lanzarote Ironman 2012 Champion, Victor Del Corral.
