The 2013 XTERRA Trail Run World Championship will be held on November 24.
For the fifth consecutive year, the event will be staged at the picturesque Kualoa Ranch on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. But for the first time, it will be run in November instead of December.
As always, it will be open to runners of all ages and skill levels from around the world. Discount early-bird registration fees will be available throughout the month of February by on the XTERRA Planet website.
More than 2,000 runners from around the world are expected to gather at Kualoa Ranch to experience the unique setting that only Kualoa Ranch can offer.
The 2012 XTERRA Trail Run World Championship made headlines in the running world when elite runners Joseph Gray from Washington and Ben Bruce from Arizona crossed the finish line simultaneously and were declared co-champions. Lucy Smith from Canada took the 2012 women’s world title.
Although the elite runners get most of the attention, it truly is an event for all. In addition to the 21K world championship course, there is a 10K course, a 5K course, an “adventure walk,” and a kids sprint.
The main draw of the event is Kualoa Ranch – a spectacular venue that is normally closed to the public. The scenic backdrop at the ranch has been used for several major TV and movie productions, including Godzilla, Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, Pearl Harbor, LOST and Hawaii Five-O.
