Leonard Komon was a very successful Cross Country runner and is holding world records at road distances of 10 and 15 km having clocked 26:44 min in Utrecht/Netherlands in 2010 and 41:13 min in Nijmegen in 2011. His 10,000 m best on the track stands at 26:55,29 (2011). Now Leonard Komon (26) from Kenya is trying to run fast in the half marathon. He will be one of the favourites at the 34th edition of the Vattenfall BERLIN HALFMARATHON on March 30.
His main competition on the flat and fast course should come from Daniel Chebii (Kenya), Abera Kuma (Ethiopia), Abraham Cheroben and Richard Mengich (both Kenya).
Favourites in the women’s race are Aselefech Mergia (29, Ethiopia) and Sabrina Mockenhaupt (33, Germany) with personal bests of 1:07:21 and 2:08:45 respectively.
30.000 runners have registered for Germany’s biggest halfmarathon. The limited field sold out in December of last year.
There is a livestream of the race on our website from 9.15 a.m. until 2 p.m. The main race starts at 10.05 a.m.
