Five weeks to go to enter the fifth running of the Music Marathon Festival 2014 events on the island of Lanzarote, race day is on the 1st March.
The event is put on by island legend, Kenneth Gasque who is better known for bringing the Ironman to the Canary Islands.
The first Music Marathon event took place in 2009 and has been run every year since, except for 2013, when the race date was held over to a new slot in the calendar, the 1st March 2014.
The events comprise of the main event being a Half Marathon (21.1km) and a quarter (10.550km) as well as a 5.275km. Throw in the smaller events for the kids aged 4 to 9 with a distance of 800m and for the other kids aged from 10 to 16, a distance of 1600m and you have an opportunity for all family members to participate in this running festival.
The day doesn’t stop with the running though, because as the name suggests; Music Marathon Festival, there is music for all. Not only is there a bandstand at the finish, however there are also musicians playing along the course. With the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and the course running through the hub of Puerto Del Carmen, you have a wonderful mix for a seriously ‘vibrant and enjoyable’ day, where the music still rocks long after the sun sets.
This is certainly a must do event of fun and entertainment
