Anti-Doping Norway had its 10th anniversary celebration recently by hosting an international symposium on NADO International Cooperation.
WADA’s President John Fahey and Director General David Howman shared their congratulations as keynote speakers at the June 11 event, which was attended by His Majesty King Harald V and top members of the anti-doping community in Norway and worldwide.
“We were honored by His Majesty’s presence, a clear indication of the commitment the Kingdom of Norway has to the integrity of sport – including the fight against doping in sport,” said John Fahey. “As for the importance of international cooperation, Norway is a role model, with a strong anti-doping contribution that far extends its geographic boundaries.”
John Fahey also commended Norway for its dedication to anti-doping and credited the many Norwegians who have played an instrumental role globally in the fight against doping in sport, with some occupying key positions with WADA, two as founding board members.
In addition to the symposium, Anti-Doping Norway’s anniversary week activities included the seminars “Doping in Elite Sport” and “Doping as a Social Problem.”
