Copenhagen Marathon 2022 saw on Sunday both race records being smashed by East African runners. In the men’s race, Berhane Tsegay of Eritrea crossed the finish line in 2:08,23 hours, cutting one and a half minute off the previous record from 2019, while Helah Jelegat Kiprop of Kenya in the women’s race took an even larger slice – 5:19 minutes, to be exact – off the record, winning in 2:24,10. A line of records were all broken at Sunday´s Telenor 40th Copenhagen Marathon. Not only did Jackson Kibet Limo smash the course record in the Danish capital with a winning time of 2:09:54 hours; the 31-year-old Kenyan also produced the fastest time ever on Danish soil, lowering the previous best set in Odense back in 2012 with nearly two minutes. Morwabe sets Copenhagen 2018 course record
Denmark – William Morwabe (KEN) highlighted Sunday’s Telenor CPH Marathon winning in a new course record of 2:11,16 hours. The 26-year-old Kenyan put in an effective attack after 34 kilometers, leaving the three other runners in the leading group way behind. The victory in this year’s Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon went to Hassane Ahouchar of Morocco who finished strong in 2 hours 15 minutes and 34 seconds. Nancy Jebel Koech from Kenya was the fastest woman, and with a time of 2:33.42 she delivered one of the fastest times in race history. [Read more…]

More than 12,000 runners participated in this today’s 35th version of the Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon, and a mere 2 hours 17 minutes and 54 seconds after race start, favourite Julius Mutai of Kenya crossed the finish line as this year’s winner. Copenhagen is only a short flight from Helsinki and Denmark is known to be flat so I figured it would be a good city to shoot for a top position in a city marathon. In all my previous marathons (Odense, Paris, Fukuoka, Houston, Ottawa, Chicago) I have run with a set time goal in mind.
