Denmark – William Morwabe (KEN) highlighted Sunday’s Telenor CPH Marathon winning in a new course record of 2:11,16 hours. The 26-year-old Kenyan put in an effective attack after 34 kilometers, leaving the three other runners in the leading group way behind. With a previous personal best of only 2:16,00, Morwabe’s triumph was indeed a major surprise. [Read more…]

Parkhoi, Sanchez take Copenhagen 2012 titles
While the 10,500 Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon 2012 Finishers are probably still recovering from Sunday’s accomplishment, race organizer Sparta Athletics and Running can look back at an overly successful marathon event which was surprisingly won by domestic Martin Parkhøi in 2:24.49. Due to the sudden arrival of summer with plus 20 degrees, the record breaking number of finishers expected beforehand was not reached. Instead, a new starter record was set with 10,500 runners behind the start lines. [Read more…]

Copenhagen winner 2011 report
Marten Bostrom, Copenhagen Marathon winner 2011 report.
Copenhagen is only a short flight from Helsinki and Denmark is known to be flat so I figured it would be a good city to shoot for a top position in a city marathon. In all my previous marathons (Odense, Paris, Fukuoka, Houston, Ottawa, Chicago) I have run with a set time goal in mind. This time I wanted to change the mentality all around and focus just on winning the race. A good time could be the outcome, if everything went smoothly. [Read more…]

2nd Placed Dimosthenis Evaggelidis Copenhagen Report
We arrived at Copenhagen by air, two days before the marathon race, and – as it turned out – our first impressions were quite representative of the city.
Before our landing, my attention was caught by the huge wind generators that were in the middle of the sea, nearby the impressive bridge connecting the Danish capital with Malmo (Sweden). Copenhagen is an absolutely ecological and technologically modern city, where moving around with public transportation, bicycle and on foot is the rule, as well as recycling. WiFi can be found anywhere, cars are relatively few on the streets and the whole city is remarkably clear, despite the many tourists and the few garbage bins downtown. [Read more…]
