The first Old Mutual Two Oceans Fun Run Challenge takes place at the Greens in Mannenberg on Saturday 19 February starting at 09h00.
Entry to the 4km fun run/walk is free and open to all ages, with a minimum age of 6 years on race day. For more information on this Mannenberg event contact the Farnese Athletic Club, Faiza Adams on 079-215 4132 or Samat Adams on 082-785 6627.
This event is the first in a series of four community Fun Run Challenges that will take place during February and March, and are presented as a partnership between the Two Oceans Marathon, local community based running clubs and Western Province Athletics (WPA).
These fun run challenges will be used to identify the talent that exists in the local schools and to provide the top twenty boys and girls from each event automatic free entry into the 5km fun run on Good Friday, giving them the opportunity to experience and participate in the biggest road running event in Africa. The remaining challenges are scheduled for 26 February in Eerste Rivier, 12 March in Khayelitsha and 26 March in Mitchells Plain.
ââ¬ÅWe are proud to be a part of these fun run challenges as they promote the importance of health and fitness through running with the children in the various communities. We support the event office in its aim to develop race organising skills and encourage and increase participation at the main fun runs on Good Friday,ââ¬Â said Old Mutualââ¬â¢s sponsorship manager Frank Brooks.
Entry forms for the Old Mutual Two Oceans fun runs, which takes place on Good Friday 22 April, will be handed out at each challenge. The fun runs on 22 April are open to everyone and runnersââ¬â¢ friends, family members and supporters, especially children, are all welcome to join in the fun and experience the event spirit.
