The stage is set for the previously announced inaugural IRONMANî 70.3î Middle East Championship triathlon in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai triathlon. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee affirmed during an in-person meeting with IRONMAN executives that the Kingdom of Bahrain is honoured to host the first IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship in Bahrain.
Shaikh Nasser recently welcomed IRONMAN Chief Executive Officer Andrew Messick and IRONMAN Europe, Middle East and Africa Chief Executive Officer Thomas Dieckhoff to Bahrain. Shaikh Nasser affirmed the importance of hosting the championship to the Kingdom of Bahrain following the successful sporting events that Bahrain has previously hosted.
He expressed his expectation that the launch of the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship will dramatically improve the quality of races in Bahrain, proving a world class experience unlike any previous race in the region.
ââ¬ÅOur new races in Bahrain and Dubai should be considered the beginning of a movement. IRONMAN is not just a series of races but a lifestyle. Our collaboration with The Bahrain Triathlon Association for the first two IRONMAN 70.3 races in the region is an excellent way to kick start this movement to promote the sport of triathlon and a healthy lifestyle,ââ¬Â Dieckhoff said.
During their stay in Bahrain the IRONMAN delegation also reviewed and agreed upon the race course with the Bahrain Triathlon Association and the local organizational team. The race will also be officially endorsed by the Bahrain Triathlon Association and their athletes.
