IMPI Challenge Cape Town 2014 attracts attention - TheEd - 08-10-2014

Taking place at the picturesque Lievland Wine Estate (Stellenbosch) the weekend of 18 and 19 October 2014, the IMPI Challenge Cape Town #2 has attracted the attention of South Africa’s best trail runners and multi-sport athletes.

Top sports men and women that will be vying for the title of Ultimate Champion will include: Claude Eksteen, Stuart Marais, Andre Calitz, Carla Van Huyssteen, Eddie Lambert, Charl Souma, Christiaan Greyling and Matthew Daneel.

“I love the IMPI Cape Town course,” says reigning IMPI Elite Race Cape Town champion, Claude Eksteen. “The run route is definitely IMPI Cape Town’s unique feature. It is a great off road course with a lot of climbing, which I really enjoy. The vibe is always amazing. The event is family orientated, which makes for a great day out”.

“My goal at every event is to have a smooth problem free race,” continues Eksteen. “I know my form is good so if everything falls into place then the result will be good. I’ve heard that some quality athletes will be competing in Cape Town. I have never been one to be concerned about who is on the start line. I like to focus on myself and what I am doing. I know my shape is good and if that means a good result on the day then that is great. There are always quality athletes gunning for the win”.

Top trail runner and XTERRA athlete, Stuart Marais will make his IMPI Elite Race debut in Cape Town. According to Marais, the IMPI Elite Race looks like a massive challenge. “I’ve heard so many positive reviews. I know that there will be mud, high walls and lots of ropes, that sounds tough to me. I’m looking forward to challenging myself to the obstacles and then enjoying the IMPI vibe at the finish. Other than being able to run pretty well, I don't believe I have any other strength to fall back on. We will just have to see on race day”.

Awesome Prize: The first Elite male and female competitor to cross the finish line having successfully completed all obstacles will go home with a whopping prize of R10 000.00 each.
