Gun Run Entry Deadline draws closer - TheEd - 19-09-2013

The entry deadline for this year’s OUTsurance 94.5 Kfm Gun Run half marathon and 10km is just over a week away and participants wanting to take part in the half marathon and 10km run have until Sunday 29 September to enter, as no late entries will be taken after this date.

This popular event takes place on Sunday 13 October and judging by the entries received to date, there’s every indication another record field will line up on race day. Last year the event hosted just over 15 500 participants.

There’s a choice of a 21.1km half marathon, 10km run/walk or a 5km fun run/walk, specifically aimed at families, younger participants and walkers. Entries for the 5km only will be taken on race day at a marquee right near the start line.

This year’s event will start outside the Cape Town Stadium in Fritz Sonnenberg Road and finish along the Sea Point Promenade near Rocklands Beach. The 21km starts at 07h00, the 10km at 08h00 and the 5km at 09h00.

Cut off is at 10h30 so participants have more than enough time to complete their event, particularly the half marathon. The Cape Field Artillery is a major attraction and integral part of the event and will fire the gun to start the half marathon and again to mark the cut-off.

Participants can enter online at thegunrun.co.za or pick up an entry form from any Sportsmans Warehouse, where entries will also be taken in store. Contact Top Events on 021-511 7130 or info @ topevents.co.za.

The Anna Foundation is the official beneficiary for the event and all funds raised will go towards helping them with their cause. The Foundation is a non-profit organisation working with children who live on farms and in rural areas of the Western Cape. Their mission is to support rural communities through its education, sports and life development programmes. They recognise each child as unique and special, and aim to equip each one with skills for life-long learning. To find out more visit annafoundation.com.
