Pistorius ran his first Olympic qualifier on 17 March in Pretoria with a 45.20sec clocking at the Gauteng North Provincial Championships. Jacques de Swardt finished second in 46.36sec with Shaun de Jager and Ruan Greyling finishing fifth and sixth in 47.21sec and 47.51sec respectively.

Van Deventer has been in a race against time to get fit and qualify for the Olympic Games after a car knocked him over whilst training in May 2011.

Dean Brummer delivered his best performance of the season in the men’s 3000m finishing ninth with an 8:05.44 clocking. The winning time was 7:59.92 by Australian athlete Kevin Batt.
