Sub 50min 10km - Rui Pinto - 06-09-2011 Hi all, i have started last July with a program to run a half marathon (will run it on Sep. 18th). The reasoning behind this was the idea of "achievement" in running such a distance (also needed to loose some weight). Initially didn't want to think about the running time, just wanted to finish it (anything below 2h 30min would be great, or so i thought). However, being a somewhat competitive person, with the training and the fast improvement, now i am training to run it in sub 2hrs (already did a long run of 21.1km in 1h 58m) After the recovery days i want to start a program that allow me to go sub 50min/10km, mainly because i think that i am real slow and want to improve my speed on shorter distances (i believe that will help me greatly when running HM or a Marathon). So any advice will greatly appreciated. Basic details: 36yo Never raced 10km (so no perosnal best) - the best time while training was 54m 10s (but this was far from flat out effort). Max HR is 181 Resting HR is aprox 50 (depending on days it goes from 47 to 52). Tks in advance for your kind feedback.
