Fit Generation Names Fetal Hope as Beneficiary of Denver Road Race - TheEd - 03-06-2011

DENVER - (June 1, 2011) - Parenting Magazine's Fit Generation, a 5K run and family festival, recently named the Fetal Hope Foundation of Littleton, CO as beneficiary of its Denver, CO event. The event will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 8:30am in Greenwood Village.

The annual event is held in partnership with NBA / WNBA FIT, and is focused on uniting the Colorado communities in getting active and living healthier lifestyles. Along with the traditional 5K run / walk, Fit Generation also includes a 5K Stroller Roll, Free Kids Fun Run and Diaper Dash. The family festival will conclude the event and will offer refreshments, games, raffles and giveaways as well as live entertainment.

"This partnership is a great fit for spreading awareness and support to the audiences that need it most - those with children and those still adding to their families," said Lonnie Somers, CEO and Founder of the Fetal Hope Foundation. "While most pregnancies end with a healthy baby in the parents' arms, every year we are struck with thousands of fetal syndromes, and this partnership will be most important in furthering the awareness and support to those families in need."

Fit Generation anticipates more than 2,000 participants and spectators. Highlights of the event will be the free kids fun run, unique stroller division, live music and free family activities. Fit Generation will donate a portion of the day's proceeds to Fetal Hope in helping further its mission and programs.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be part of such a worthy organization that advocates for the health and well-being or our families and our most vulnerable babies," said Meghan Gruszynski, Parenting Magazine Fit Generation Series Director. "We look forward to a great event for all families."

The only one of its kind, the Fetal Hope Foundation is a national non-profit organization that serves as a liaison between families affected by fetal syndromes and the medical teams that provide their care. Its mission is to provide support, provide information, fund research, increase awareness and be an outlet for leading medical information pertaining to fetal syndromes. Since its inception in 2006, Fetal Hope supports around 15,000 families per year through resources, counseling and its Travel Grant program.
