Improving 10k with regular training - MMS - 15-07-2013 My 4k time-trial was better than expected: 15:29. This is faster than my last one and a little more than 1 minute faster than my first one in January. Jul 18th ââ¬â 5x2k Night Run 23C Re|Time 01|08:06 02|08:07 03|08:04 04|08:05 05|08:00 Tot|40:22 avg|04:02 Very hard session, had to stay really focused all the time. Pretty satisfied with it. On Saturday morning had my 1h30 long run, was feeling very good and covered 16km. Took a day off on Sunday and ran 10km on Monday. A cold front arrived yesterday and dropped the temperatures like Iôve never seen before. This Saturday I intend to run 5k in 20:20 as a preview pace of the race. But I used it tonight: 40min, 7,2km (5'33"), 143 bpm, 8C. (cold front is leaving) I'll wear it during the 5k paced to look at those numbers. Keep you posted. The easy runs are close to 5ââ¬â¢35ââ¬Â and 145bpm, 1h last Thu and 1h yesterday. On Saturday had my 5k paced run at 4ââ¬â¢04ââ¬Â/km and felt not satisfied with it because I was struggling more than I had to during the 5th km if I want a 10K in 40ââ¬â¢40ââ¬Â. Letôs look at the numbers. It looks like that 20ââ¬â¢20ââ¬Â for the first 5K was faster than I could deliver that night and maybe a better approach for the 10k race would be a slower start, first 5k in 20ââ¬â¢30ââ¬Â, keep this pace up to the 7th km and then see whatôs left in the tank. For tomorrow, instead of 400m session will do the 3x5min. Any suggestions? How does it all sound? Cheers. MMS.
