this is good keith .. did you find that the session was a training session and you felt more alert (not so tired) after the run?

Hi Ed

I certainly felt very focused afterwards. Don't know if it makes sense but it seemed as big an achievement as my interval times?

keith .. once you get the balance of the program right, and what each session is intended for, your running becomes more enjoyable

it is great to know why we train and where the training is going

there is a time to train and a time to test

we train to race

Big Grin

enjoy

Thanks Ed

I've entered a 5k evening race next Thursday which I thought would work as the 5K time trial?

Evening Ed

Moderate 60 Mins - Todays target was to establish a moderate effort, so went for 150 - 152 HR (ended up @ 151) and a time of 10K + 30 - 40 seconds (ended up + 40). Went OK apart from the rain and another soaking.

10.55 km
Time: 58:00
Avg Pace: 5:30 min/km
Elevation Gain: 104 m
Avg HR: 151 bpm
Max HR: 160 bpm
Avg Run Cadence: 170 spm
Max Run Cadence: 178 spm

Rest day tomorrow

Hello Ed

Had an enforced break over the weekend as I felt really coldy with a sniffly nose and cough so today was my first run since Friday as I felt back to normal.

I wanted a flat run to experiment with keeping a steady HR rate for an extended period. Target was 150 - 153 but pushed on Km8 and the last bit which raised the average slightly. Weather was pants and got soaked.

Distance: 11.56 km
Time: 1:02:38
Avg Pace: 5:24 min/km
Elevation Gain: 192 m
Avg HR: 154 bpm
Max HR: 166 bpm
Avg Run Cadence: 170 spm
Max Run Cadence: 178 spm

What session would you suggest for tomorrow with the 5K race on Thursday?

Thanks

Keith

I show this to reaffirm things

Day 3 to day 8 .. are the major training days

and then the rest is managing the next 10 days

onwards

That's a phenomenal performance and a massive incentive to stay with the programme.

So an easy 30 or 60 mins tomorrow as per day 13 for me?

In between programmes - TheEd - 28-05-2014

yes, and focus on keeping things relaxed, not testing yourself

come out of the run feeling that you did what you needed, no more, no less

on we go
