10K Training Program Question - Hyperspace - 06-07-2009 Hi TheEd, Due to the bathroom DIY haven't managed the 1000's or a single session since last week! I've worked everyday for 11 days now so after today having a break - by going back to work! Planning to go out this evening to our local running club for some very easy running - do you reckon I should think about giving the race coming up this Friday coming a miss seeing as I will be a bit wide of the mark for race pace? Was thinking about starting a new 19 day cycle today instead of building up to the race this Friday... Good idea? Cheers, Daryl 10K Training Program Question - TheEd - 06-07-2009 magic I am sure the bathroom looks great hopefully slotting the running back in will be seamless TheEd :mrburns: :jive: 10K Training Program Question - Hyperspace - 07-07-2009 Hi TheEd, Started a new 19 day cycle yesterday with a good 70 min easy run with local run club. Needed it, felt good to get moving again, however was v.tired afterwards and today. Have a strange tightness above left ankle and bottom of shin this morning - need to rest this, it might be hanging over from kneeling down doing the DIY etc - not sure I will do the 2k's tomorrow, will have to see how ankle/shin is. Can I postpone them til day after instead? Will keep you posted, Thanks, Daryl 10K Training Program Question - TheEd - 07-07-2009 for future maybe better to start with a 30 minute run first to blow away the cobwebs after DIY stints play it by ear and Thursday would be even better for 2000's Cheers TheEd 10K Training Program Question - Hyperspace - 08-07-2009 TheEd, You're right - I should've taken it easier on Monday - I have a lot to learn! Ankle/Shin feels slightly better this morning, but its definitely not ready for running on. I think I'm going to pull out of Fridays race, it seems pointless kidding myself I'm going to go. Will keep you posted on progress, Cheers again, Daryl 10K Training Program Question - TheEd - 08-07-2009 well I am sure the bathroom looks good we can't have everything right all at once, we don't want to become too spoilt TheEd 10K Training Program Question - Hyperspace - 10-07-2009 Well, what can I say - training seems to be going sideways again at the moment. Have had some serious sleep pattern disturbances over last few nights. 4 hours the night before last. Got lots going on at work, most busiest time all year. So trying to get on top of that. Ankle/shin is much better, a ran a little on it yesterday on the way to the beach for a surf session, it felt good. Upon paddling out noticed a dull, sore pain in left shoulder, only very acute. I did the age old trick of carrying on as I thought it might wear off. I did take it easy but it got worse and now I am paying for it! What a disaster.Caught some amazing waves though, it was a good session. I had to get out after an hour as it was starting to get dangerous to stay in with the shoulder pain. I haven't injured my shoulder like this for years, not sure how this has happened other than some light weights I did earlier in the week in the gym. On this note I'm planning some serious downtime over the weekend. I think the DIY stint on the bathroom has had more of an impact than I realised. Admittedly I did really go for it and unfortunately this is the price I have to pay. I wish I could say the bathroom looks great, however we only got the broad basics finished, eletrics, plumbing etc done - decoration is not for long time yet. Ho hum. Will update recovery progress, Hows your running going? Cheers, Daryl 10K Training Program Question - TheEd - 10-07-2009 DIY rules my running ho hum .. though I did do a 600m run with the son yesterday Where do you surf? TheEd ps.. hopefully you back to normal soon and all the aches and pains are a thing of the past 'most' shortly 10K Training Program Question - Hyperspace - 10-07-2009 'DIY rules' - that's questionable...!!! Shoulder is much better this afternoon - started a course of Ibruprofen this morn and also applied some Ibruprofen gel to said shoulder. Need a few early nights now to get on top of things now. Thinking start back Mon with a 30 min Easy. Surfing mostly in Scarborough - have you heard of it? Do you surf? Tried? Cheers, Daryl 10K Training Program Question - TheEd - 11-07-2009 good to hear of the improvement I have attempted to surf on 1 occasion in the past and this was in Cape Town many moons ago I am interested in developing something of surf locations of the world but more obscure surf locations (just a thought) cheers TheEd |
