10K Training Program - April - 25-10-2009 Hi TheEd I didn't have a good race. I didn't manage sub60. After I crossed the finish line, I was given water to hydrate. After taking a few gulps, I threw up, I was trembling, my body went limp. I was brought to the First Aid room. My blood sugar had gone too low. I rested in bed the whole day and I feeling ok today. I thought I ate well for the race. I have another 10km race coming up on 1 Nov. How should I prepare myself so that I won't have the same problem again. April 10K Training Program - TheEd - 25-10-2009 Hi April .. sorry to hear you did not have a good experience it certainly sounds as though you were a bit anxious don't think of any running for now and learn from this experience to prepare for next week's event think about what you can do to improve and then we caht tomorrow recover well till the morrow TheEd 10K Training Program - April - 26-10-2009 Hi TheEd The race result is out, my timing is 1hr44sec. I went for a 30min run on the treadmill today and felt fine. I've been thinking what I didn't do right for the race: - thought maybe I didn't eat enough for breakfast on the race day. I had 1 muesli bar and an energy bar. - I panicked at 8km and picked up speed. When I came to the last km, I was completely burnout. Any advice? April 10K Training Program - TheEd - 26-10-2009 wow .. how long did you take to cross the start line .. seems like 1:44 is a long long time, are you sure it was 10km? seems odd the time especially if comparing to your earlier feedback What's next ... are you ready to attempt another cycle? TheEd 10K Training Program - April - 27-10-2009 It's 1:00'44". Sorry for the confusion. 10K Training Program - TheEd - 06-11-2009 so despite your bad experience you were very close to sub 60 hopefully you can start thinking of getting back on the bicycle soon as 'in my opinion' you are well capable of sub 60 mins judging on your previous training Look forward to hearing from you TheEd 10K Training Program - April - 07-11-2009 Hi TheEd My 2nd race on last Sun was disappointing, I finished at 1:06'36". I came down with flu and sore throat just 2 days before the race. I woke up with my nose blocked, contemplated and decided to go for the race. At 4km, I was beginning to breath hard and I knew the run was going to be a very tough one. At 8km, breathing became so difficulty, at some point, I wanted to give up. But I thought, I came this far and I only need to endure another 2km. I continued. After the race, I felt really unwell. Many said me I did a dangerous thing; running with a flu... I'm disappointed with the timing, I don't regret making the decision to run and I'm glad I endured and crossed the finish line. I'm resting and still recovering from my flu. Doctor has advised that I should not run for the next few weeks. I probably will have to give up the race on 6 Dec... For now, I just want to get well, re-charged and get back on the track again. TheEd, thank you for believing in me... I want to continue to train. I hope to build a strong foundation, so that I may do better the next time. April 10K Training Program - TheEd - 07-11-2009 April .. you should not have run another race so soon after the 1st race you have to be patient .. you should have given your body a chance to recover after the 1st 10km race because that result and the feedback showed there was something 'amiss' please learn from this because such experiences can often have a negative affect as well as creating unnecessary 'fear of running' you have the ability to go sub 60 quite comfortably so do recover and then get back in to training till later TheEd 10K Training Program - April - 09-11-2009 Noted. Will not repeat mistake. April 10K Training Program - TheEd - 09-11-2009 good stuff :great: onwards and forwards TheEd |
