More stretching and foam rollering last night too. Was a bit ill over the weekend so had a few days off. HR is all over the shop, not sure why...may be something to do with fighting off some sort off virus! Cycle commute has started today too. Ticking over steadily. Built base mileage up slowly, no groin backlash so far. RE: To race is but a dream... - TheEd - 03-04-2020 Take care Daz .. monitor your health great to hear the legs have bounced back but of extreme importance looking after your lungs, so definitely don't do any hard exercise stay safe TheEd RE: To race is but a dream... - shadydaz - 03-04-2020 01/04/20 Resting HR 49 Cycling 50km 121 mins 24.9 kph Ave HR 124 Max HR 155 *based on both commutes Running 3.45km 17:57 5:12 min/km Ave HR 145 Max HR 162 was going to be longer but nature called so had to circle back home! 02/04/20 Resting HR 52 Cycling 50km 121 mins 24.3 kph Ave HR 117 Max HR 168 *based on both commutes Running 10km 49:12 4:55 min/km Ave HR 149 Max HR 177 Straight off the bike home into the run. It a strange feeling when the legs are a bit numb and just doing their own thing. I wasn't aware I was running at 4:40-4:50 pace to start with, it felt so much slower, I was just running by feel as I try not to look at the watch as usual. Once I realised I had done a 24:19 first 5km, I slowed it down a bit. Yesterday was the first run without K taping on the groin and I am pleased to report not grumbles, objections, pains or discomfort from the area at all. That felt really good!! This week I have finally felt like I can take a normal breath again. We do have the national road relay 5km champs over the next week. It is being done virtually. There probably isn't any "pace" in the legs anyway so I was thinking a tempo effort would do (not flat out hard), just to mix up the running a little bit. Maybe around 21:30-22:00 ish. That aside looking at a LSR Sunday morning, no more than 21km very easy. Hope all is well your end. Keep safe... Darren.

It was a warm evening and I was not feeling very comfortable after a failed attempt the evening before (i bonked at 3.5km after going our too fast (4:10, 4:06, 4:06 first three splits). This effort was a case of getting it done having had some energy sapped out of me. It also provides a time trial as I am starting to look towards a race (that hasn't yet been cancelled!) on the 28th June, just enough time to get three cycles in leading up to that, the first cycle being a gentle one. Hopefully we are not fully locked down over the next week or so... I've been able to breathe again normally for the first time in a long time. Feeling good and strong now, legs are getting used to the cross training, hamstrings feel in much better nick. Plenty of stretching and rolling happening too. hopefully the RHR begins to settle a bit more as it is still erratic. Ticking over. Mileage building up again. Groin holding together. Feeling good for the first time in months. Cycling to work this week, also starting training cycle tomorrow. Going to be taking it relatively easy first one in, three cycles in race build up to 28th June, which is still not cancelled/postponed so that is the target as it stands. You can see from last few days, the RHR has settled a bit and is 40 BPM this morning, so showing a bit of consistency. As in my previous post, feeling good and ready to go " alt="" title=""> RE: To race is but a dream... - TheEd - 14-04-2020 Wow Daz .. incredible to see you getting in some consistent training and living 'almost normally' onwards TheEd ps.. don't want to put any pressure or goal orientation on training currently .. just to tick over and enjoy the exercise itself RE: To race is but a dream... - shadydaz - 15-04-2020 Indeed no pressure for the first cycle, the legs are still adapting to the cycle commuting and running. Its more a case of getting back into the routine. Darren.
