Where do I start? - TheEd - 01-11-2008

don't be disappointed OT

some sessions go like that and the weather no doubt played a role

completing the session always helps, adds another marble to the jar

The 1000's will probably be a breeze next week

Enjoy your weekend

gday theEd,

Long time, no post!
It's been like this ...
Day 4 - easy 30 min
Day 5 - easy 90 min
Day 6 - easy 30 min
Day 7, 8, 9 - SICK!!! :-(
Day 10 - easy 30 - cautious first day back

Day 11- 5k effort on treadmill
3:10
3:06 - 6:16
3:04 - 9:20
3:02 - 12:22
3:00 - 15:22
Clearly treadmill times don't equate to real running!!

Day 12 - treadmill easy 15k @ 13.6kph
Day 13 - treadmill easy 10k @ 13.6 kph

Day 14 - 400s - grass athletics track - bit bumpy and rough

OT .. where are you now with your plans?

This may explain the bad 2k session, you must have caught a bug and you were flying just beforehand, getting the balance right is the secret

What say you?

yeah, that might be right, Ed! I'm happy to have an excuse! :-)

My plans ... Straight forward ... i had a pipe dream of a sub 70 minute half marathon ... Given that is unrealistic when I've come back to running at very nearly 40, then as close as I can get to it. Easy huh, you just tell me how to get there! :-)

Have seen it all before OT .. the athlete gets the bit between the teeth and goes a touch ape

never kill the natural ability, cajole it into shape in the early days and build on the training in stages - little steps without getting sick or injured

returning to training must be a thoughtful process Wink

and often the excitement of returning covers the stark truths

You were certainly coming along nicely and should soon be back to scratch again

Onwards and forwards

g'day theEd,

Made it to the end of cycle 2 successfully ... apart from the three days missed to illness.

Couldn't find a 10k race Sunday, so had to settle for a 6k fun run instead.

Final time was 20:11

Splits (assuming the signed markers were accurate) were
3:19.2
3:19.0
3:26.3 (there was a climb, plus a turn around in this k)
3:20.7
3:24.7
3:21.3
