Sub 35 - jamieh - 26-09-2013 Mixed things up a little for my Thursday session today as jumped on a friend's marathon track work-out. It seemed broadly inline with the 5x2k's so hopefully makes sense? 6x1600 with 400 jog between each. Aim was 110% marathon pace. 5:29 5:30 5:29 5:28 5:28 5:27 Weight: 78.5kg Weather: warm (18C), light wind Enjoyed the session actually. Legs were feeling decent even after a steady 9 miles yesterday. I quite enjoyed the jogging instead of straight resting as it seemed easier to hit a rhythm on each rep (although obviously the reps were quite a lot slower than i do 1k's/2k's). Planning a long run on Sunday of 10miles 80% marathon pace + 10miles at marathon pace (prob 3:50ish... although I really have no idea!!). Hopefully catch up over Skype this week anyway as will definitely be interested to hear your thoughts. J Sub 35 - TheEd - 27-09-2013 Hi J .. would be good to chat once you get the chance Cheers TheEd Sub 35 - jamieh - 29-09-2013 Really enjoyed the 20 miler this morning despite having a rather indulgent Saturday leaving me at 80 kg train heavy, race light... right?! - 10 miles: 6:48/mi avg, HR 130-135 (flat, tow path) - 10 miles: 6:10/mi avg, HR 140-152 (hills, 170m gained/lost) Last 10k was 36:30. I actually felt a lot stronger in the second half once we picked up the pace. Legs are pretty broken now, but I'm encouraged! Any thoughts on program between now and Sat next week (when I'm planning a parkrun 5k)? J Sub 35 - TheEd - 30-09-2013 let's see how you recover from this first a sub 37 the last 10km .. mmm if you can do that in the marathon you onto a winner chat soon TheEd Sub 35 - jamieh - 30-09-2013 Oops, just re-looked at data this morning and actually last 10k was 38:30, not 36:30! Still, happy with the session. I'll let you know how recovery goes, but legs feeling decent this morning so will probably head out for an easy jog at lunch & a swim this evening. J Sub 35 - jamieh - 03-10-2013 Solid couple of sessions in the last 2 days. 60mins yesterday with last 20mins <6:15 pace (felt really solid), then easy 10k today with middle 20 mins <6:15 pace (again felt great). Rest tomorrow then 90mins easy + park-run (holding 6:15 pace) on Sat, then steady 12 miles on Sun. Then it's 2 weeks to go... Sub 35 - TheEd - 03-10-2013 not much more you can really do after Saturday TheEd Sub 35 - jamieh - 03-10-2013 I guess the main thing for me is to keep the munching to a minimum. Back under 78kg today so on track to hit 76 on the start-line. Sub 35 - jamieh - 06-10-2013 15k easy (7min pace) yesterday, then straight into park-run 5k. Tried to keep it steady (not looking at watch) & pick it up towards the end. Ended up finishing in 17:18. Quite a bit faster that marathon pace... oops! But I figured a hard run on tired legs still must be good training. Easy 12 miles today. Slightly sore hip, seeing physio tomorrow, but other than that everything feeling good. Sub 35 - TheEd - 06-10-2013 well, you tell me 36k into your first marathon wishing you all the best and may you enjoy the experience TheEd |
