Sub 40 Min Training - TheEd - 19-04-2012 Ian, I look forward to when you get down to doing this session in 7 minutes per 2k it will come keep the natural ability a priority and you sensible in planning your down time TheEd Sub 40 Min Training - ihenman - 27-04-2012 Been a tough week. Missed a few days, although partially due to what I'd consider a rookie mistake in my long run on Sunday. I got a new pair of shoes end of last week and was eager to try them out so I laced them up and took them for my 2 HR long run. 24 KM later and I have the largest blisters I had ever seen on the inside balls of my feet. So that wrote off Monday & Tuesday. I managed to get them healed up for Wednesday and headed out for my 10K easy and did my 1K's yesterday. Felt a bit tired during the first and 2nd reps, thought I was going a bit slower, but the times were consistent with what I've been doing cycle to cycle. 3:39 3:34 3:36 3:37 3:38 3:36 Something I'd like your feedback on. Here's my ideal race schedule for the coming months. I'm trying to plan out when I should take my break... I'm thinking physically it should be done possibly after my 21K in May... which is doable, I'll just drop the 5K beginning of June... What are you're thoughts? May 20th - 21 K June 2nd - 5K June 17th 10K July 8th - 10K August 6th - 6 Miler Sept 15th - 21K Oct 7th - 10K Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention. We're having a MASSIVE rain storm here today... so I was thinking of moving my 40 min easy to tomorrow and then the 5K paced on Sunday. Is that OK? Or am I not giving myself the rest I need between the easy and quality session? Cheers, Ian Sub 40 Min Training - TheEd - 27-04-2012 you not going to take Rest today 5k paced Saturday and a light and easy run on Sunday? however .. you welcome to do what you suggest if it suits your timing more Cheers and have a good weekend TheEd Sub 40 Min Training - ihenman - 05-05-2012 Hey TheEd raced an impromptu 5000m today on the track. Hadn't raced on a track in 18 years. Was a bit disappointed with the time, 18:06' I developed a stitch after the 3rd K. I had a race plan to go out for 17:30, but it was fun none the less. My next race is 2weeks, a 21 K wante your input on what to do this coming week? Should I start with week 1 of the cycle and then do a week 3 leading up to the race? Thx, Ian Sub 40 Min Training - TheEd - 06-05-2012 nice going Ian .. if you look at it, your previous 6 x 1k session times would have give you something around 18:05 pity about the stitch are you up for the 5 x 2k session on Thursday, as this is the most beneficial training session Then we can switch to week 3 in the final week or depending on how important the race / event is you still do a 6 x 1k session on the Tuesday Cheers TheEd Sub 40 Min Training - ihenman - 06-05-2012 TheEd The race is important to me from a perspective that it's my 2nd 21 K ever so I want to build on my time of 1:26 from Feb in the Winter. If doing the 2K's this week and maybe backing off the 2HR and just doing a 20k or something will allow me to be some what fresh for race day if I do week 3 the following week I'll go for that. I'll see how I feel about the 1K's the following Tuesday. Ian PS good point on the 5000M finish. Guess our minds get ahead of our legs sometimes Sub 40 Min Training - ihenman - 08-05-2012 Hey TheEd, Have any good tips for training in the rain? Looking at some rain from tomorrow through sunday in my part of the word with 25-30 mm on Thursday, the day of my 2K's. I'm not adverse to training in it, just wondered what you're thoughts were and how to adjust expectations. I know I'll get wet Probably try to just wear a cool-max shirt or something that will wick away the moisture and likely use some Vaseline in areas that could chaff from the moisture. I presume I should adjust my 2K expectations maybe? Any other tips? Cheers, Ian Sub 40 Min Training - TheEd - 08-05-2012 Have any good tips for training in the rain? Treadmill see how the session goes and change according to what happens during the session TheEd Sub 40 Min Training - ihenman - 08-05-2012 Yeah I suppose, but I hate a - paying the $12 bucks to get into the gym to use it b - it just ain't the same.. I'll try my 30 min in the rain on Wed and see how I like it and keep an eye on the weather. Bet you guys don't have this "rain" problem all that much Sub 40 Min Training - TheEd - 08-05-2012 rain not so much a part of the climate here |
