10K Training Plans - TheEd - 18-06-2013 consider 4.20 per k pace for the 2k = 8.40 this should be a comfortable pace and there is no need to run harder for now TheEd 10K Training Plans - glenn10 - 19-06-2013 TheEd Wrote:consider 4.20 per k pace for the 2k = 8.40 Just walking back from this session now - I found this one of the, if not the hardest session I've done this year. Not due to the pace, but the heat and humidity mixed with high pollen and London smog just made it impossible to breathe. My running partner did the first four reps and couldn't do any more. I managed to complete them, but it makes for grim reading... 1 - 8:24 2 - 8:39 3 - 8:52 4 - 8:47 5 - 9:08 Total: 43:50 (Aim: 43:20) I couldn't have given it any more, which is what makes this so disappointing! 10K Training Plans - TheEd - 19-06-2013 you mustn't read too much into a session that has everything against it being a good session please, don't hassle about it let me know how you feel tomorrow and if OK, then do an easy 20 to 30 minutes TheEd 10K Training Plans - glenn10 - 20-06-2013 TheEd Wrote:you mustn't read too much into a session that has everything against it being a good session You are quite right, I think the heat just got to me yesterday in more ways than one  Did an easy 25 minutes this evening, more to loosen my legs up which were still quite tight from yesterday, but feeling better now! On a completely unrelated note, I have a compulsary work medical in a couple of weeks time - blood/heart etc - is there anything in particular I should ask for that you think would be useful? What should I be looking to do over this weekend, anything apart from 1 hour easy runs? 10K Training Plans - TheEd - 21-06-2013 you could consider putting in a 75 minute run tomorrow .. work on increasing the long run time have a great weekend TheEd 10K Training Plans - glenn10 - 23-06-2013 TheEd Wrote:you could consider putting in a 75 minute run tomorrow .. work on increasing the long run time Hi Ed, Just to keep you up-to-date on this weekend - I did a 60 minute easy run on Friday night, and a 75 minute easy run on Saturday. I have developed a bit of a sore throat, so have taken Sunday off with the hope that it should be better for tomorrow rather than irritate it. The runs both felt fine - Saturday had quite heavy legs after 55 minutes, but still completed the session okay. Will assume that I can run tomorrow for now, so what should I be looking to run for the first few days this week? Happy to do the track session any day Tuesday - Friday, whichever is best. 10K Training Plans - TheEd - 24-06-2013 by the way .. re: medical you can ask for both your hemoglobin and serum ferritin levels to be checked. cheers TheEd ps.. hope you recover well 10K Training Plans - glenn10 - 24-06-2013 TheEd Wrote:by the way .. re: medical Thanks - they said in the e-mail they will check the blood for '40 things' - but I will make sure that those 40 include those two! Tracked the throat problem down to a wisdom tooth playing up a bit, and on a recommendation have been using some numbing antiseptic spray which meant I could do a one-hour run this evening. It's still a bit tender, however, so would rather push the 6 x 1K as late in the week as practical (and the 5K fast session thereafter). Am thinking 6 x 1K on Wednesday, and the 5K on Saturday; or even Thursday and Sunday? 10K Training Plans - TheEd - 24-06-2013 Wednesday and Saturday should be fine TheEd 10K Training Plans - glenn10 - 25-06-2013 TheEd Wrote:Wednesday and Saturday should be fine No problems. Any particular pace I should be looking at? Another hour easy ticked off okay this evening, tooth is feeling better by the day too |
