sub 50min 10k a realistic goal? - sinkpet - 06-09-2010 Restarted my cycle with an easy 13km run I've got a race lined up at the end of October, so I've got almost 2 months to train. After that I'm probably going to keep cycling the program until the end of this year and then it's back to marathon training I've also got an opportunity to run a 5k next weekend, which I'm kinda debating about :mmm: sub 50min 10k a realistic goal? - TheEd - 06-09-2010 5k shouldn't be a problem, you need to be aware of how you recover from the training before the event and then see how it all pans out Cheers TheEd sub 50min 10k a realistic goal? - sinkpet - 15-09-2010 I ran the 5k last saturday, got 23min21s which I was fairly happy about I didn't have my HR monitor with me, but it felt like I wasn't as gassed as before when maintaining that fast of a pace. Sunday was a rest day and I continued with the training program afterwards. Seems like the 5k meshed pretty nice with that since it was on the same day as the 3x2k. :tonguepop: On monday I did an easy 1h30min run @ 6'03"/km pace. Yesterday and Today I ran a couple of easy 6kms since I've got a pretty nice route mapped for that distance. I'm wondering should I go straight ahead with the 5x1k set tomorrow? I've still got good amount of time before my race and I'm also wondering should I finish the training program this time or restart the cycle one more time before the race? The exact time of my 10k race is 30.10 so if I counted right I could easily squeeze in one restart. sub 50min 10k a realistic goal? - TheEd - 16-09-2010 getting used to the cycles is very good however try to start the session on a Tuesday and have the 2k session on a Thursday with the long run over the weekend .. this helps the balance of recovery according to work routine 1000's should be fine and then 3 weeks before race you can do a new cycle TheEd ps.. good to hear you had an enjoyable 5km |
