New event challenge - TheEd - 29-05-2010 sorry to hear this Dave .. keep a steady head and you will soon be back to running maybe we should work together through your return, doing one day at a time Cheers and enjoy your long weekend TheEd New event challenge - DaveM40 - 29-05-2010 Hi TheEd - thanks for the reply. Great idea. I would be very greateful for guidance in my return. You have all the experience and knowledge. I guess you have seen it all before - the over eager athlete thinks he's healed and does too much too soon :duh: Even though I am in my 40's, I am a relative novice and have been lucky with injury up to now. I don't understand how to cope with a damaged body correctly and I have not taken on board all the advice . I am certainly going to re-hab properly this time. I will give you an update after I see the phsio and then we can make a plan. Thanks so much for all this help ... Dave New event challenge - TheEd - 30-05-2010 no problems Dave and have sent you a PM slowly slowly and we will be fine TheEd New event challenge - DaveM40 - 30-05-2010 Hi TheEd - thanks for the message. In response to the better news about the leg etc: How about this for Monday and Tueday; Monday - 30 to- 40 min easy run (HR 123 - 131) Tueday 30 min aerobic rowing (HR 120 area) What do you think? Dave New event challenge - TheEd - 30-05-2010 maybe consider running every 2nd day for next week then there is no need to test the leg a day after running so by the weekend of next, you should be on the right track again yes yes TheEd New event challenge - DaveM40 - 30-05-2010 Thanks TheEd - I will feedback how I get on with it. Thanks Dave New event challenge - DaveM40 - 31-05-2010 Hi TheEd - hope you are well. I started "Off Period" training today. I ran 40 min at ave hr 131 / 4.42 per k. Most importantly I had no pain during running or after stretching. I have lost a little fitness - but that will return soon with training i think. I know this is a danger time -I could do too much, too soon. I plan to go to the gym and do a 30 min easy ROW on the concept2 instead of running tomorrow. I can do my usual strength workout while I am there. If all goes well I can do 40 min run on Wednesday? Does this sound ok? Dave New event challenge - TheEd - 31-05-2010 'perfek' .. you will soon slot into training so hold back for the week and you should be on your way was wondering whether you could increase your ZINC intake to assist you do you eat meat, if yes consider having a little more beef in your diet the occasional steak is very good for muscle recovery and maintenance Cheers TheEd New event challenge - DaveM40 - 31-05-2010 Hi TheEd - I do eat meat. I will take on some extra beef this week - my wife's homemde chilli con carne today  and some steak maybe Wednesday. Do i need to get a zinc supplement? Dave New event challenge - TheEd - 31-05-2010 not necessary for a supplement unless little muscle tears occur regularly this is something where the extra intake of beef should assist, so nothing to look at with regards to a total supplement always good to maintain the body just as you would your car TheEd |
