South Island Cross Country Championships, incorporating the Kennett Cup Steeples, QEII Park ââ¬â 7 July 2012
A month after his career best marathon Sam Wreford was again in top form winning the annual South Island cross country title. Wreford covered the 9000m in 28m 11s, to head in Brett Tingay 29m 25s and Nick Rennie 30m 13s. Rosa Flanagan won the womenââ¬â¢s 5056m in 17m 27s from Nicki McFadzien 17m 34s and Reubyn Bisschops 18m 7s. Jack Moody won the junior 6225m in 20m 21s with Michael Lowe second 20m 50s and Matt Dryden third 20m 56s. Laura Steffens won the junior womenââ¬â¢s 5056m in 19m 49s, from Pip Dalley 20m 9s and Sophie Evans 20m 40s. Richard Bennett won the masters 9000m in 30m 34s, 21 seconds ahead of Axel Reiser. Leonie Kaywood won the master womenââ¬â¢s 5056m in 20m 20s from Fiona Gilroy 20m 36s.
