2010 HALBERG AWARDS
Valerie Adams and Nikki Hamblin were nominated, along with 12 others, and have been selected as finalists for the Sportswoman of the Year title. The other finalists are Joelle King (squash), Alison Shanks (cycling) and Casey Williams (netball).
Nikki Hamblin has also been short listed, along with seven others, for the favourite sporting moment award. Hamblin has been selected for her late surge for the 800m silver medal at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. The public get a chance to vote for this new award, New Zealandââ¬â¢s favourite sporting moment. Voting can be made by text (5445, then write SM and the number of your choice between 1 and 8, note Nikki Hamblin is number 5) and online at skysport.co.nz Voting closes at noon on 10 February ââ¬â the night of the Halberg Awards. People can vote more than once but can only cast one vote per day.
Jacko Gill is one of the four finalists for the emerging talent award which includes a $15,000 sporting scholarship. The emerging talent award is designed to identify and reward potential Olympic and world champions. It is limited to athletes who have not competed at the Olympics or senior world championships.
