BOSTON – June 24, 2012 – At the second B.A.A. 10K on Sunday morning, Geoffrey Mutai successfully defended his crown in 27 minutes, 29 seconds, running away from a stellar field here on the streets of Boston, while New Zealand Olympian Kim Smith shattered the course record with her 31:36. A beautiful summer morning greeted more than 4,500 runners on Boston Common as the runners toed the line at 8:00am under bright and sunny skies, the conditions were set for fast running, with a temperature of 74F degrees, 42% humidity and very low winds. The sixth RAK Half Marathon on February 17th, now a well-established IAAF Gold Label Road Race, promises even more than the usual fare in this tiny corner of the United Arab Emirates, which is saying a great deal for a race that can boast a number of world records and dozens of personal bests from the elite in the previous five editions, including Mary Keitany’s astonishing 65:50 world record just twelve months ago.
