UAE – The reputation of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon was enhanced in spectacular style today, with a record 11 men breaking the one-hour barrier, while three women battled for supremacy in a finishing sprint that put them all under 66 minutes.
Bayabel, Yalew win Egmond Half Marathon

Ethiopians Yekeber Bayabel and Genet Yalew won Sunday’s 44th Saucony Egmond Half Marathon. He had the finishing stretch along Boulevard Noord to himself and completed the race in 1:08:08. High southerly winds made it the slowest race since 1985. On track for a medal for much of the race, Abdi Nageeye developed a side stitch in the last few kilometres and had to concede to Bernard Kipyego and Abera Kuma, who finished second and third. Saturday night, 29th August 2015, was the 6th Midnight Run in Helsinki. This year’s event gathered close to 11,000 runners to the Senate Square to run the 10 km loop in the city centre of Helsinki. Leonard Komon was a very successful Cross Country runner and is holding world records at road distances of 10 and 15 km having clocked 26:44 min in Utrecht/Netherlands in 2010 and 41:13 min in Nijmegen in 2011. His 10,000 m best on the track stands at 26:55,29 (2011). Now Leonard Komon (26) from Kenya is trying to run fast in the half marathon.
