France: Nice 21K 2005 – 7500 participants, a record and loads of emotions!
It was a perfect day for running – more than 7500 competitors took part in the race on the famous Promenade des Anglais, flanked by the sea and palm trees, in perpetual festive atmosphere. All along the course, a crowd of 30,000 people was present, cheering and encouraging the competitors and enjoying the festivities in the streets of the beautiful capital of the French Riviera. Girls on the Run offer life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls aged eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts.
The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development.
Their MISSION:
To educate and prepare girls for a life time of self-respect and healthy living.

This international 10km race which takes place outside Paris on a race course entirely held on tarred roads in a magnificent green park (350 hectares of which 120 are wooded, 95 grass and 6 floral) has become one of the top races on the French running calendar.
