Moncton, N.B. – Brent Lakatos of Dorval, Que., and Diane Roy of Sherbrooke, Que., won a pair of Para-athletics national titles on day two of the Canadian Track and Field Championships. Canadian Team for World Relays
OTTAWA – The first edition of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Relays is approaching and Athletics Canada is pleased today to name 20 athletes to the Canadian team. The event will be held in the capital of The Bahamas, Nassau, May 24 and 25. Canada will field four teams, men’s and women’s 4×100 and 4×400-metre relays. [Read more…]

Matthew Hughes of Oshawa, Ont., registered a World leading performance in the men’s 3000-metres steeplechase this past weekend at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Standford, California. TORONTO – The 2012 National Track League (NTL) Finale takes place at Varsity Stadium in Toronto, Ont., with the staging of the Toronto International Track + Field Games (TITFG). Team enjoys best NACAC U-23
OTTAWA- Athletics Canada’s entry at the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association) under-23 Championships won an amazing 18 medals over the course of the three day competition this weekend in Guanajuato, Mexico. Canada’s previous best event finish at this event was a haul of 17 medals at the 2010 edition held in the United States. The next edition of this event will take place in Kamloops, B.C., in 2014. Brianne Theisen sets World leading mark at Pac-12 Championships
At the PAC-12 Championships in Eugene, Oregon Brianne Theisen of Humboldt, Sask., set the world leading mark and hit the Olympic A+ standard with a performance of 6353-points in the seven event heptathlon discipline. “I’m on top of the world right now,” said Theisen. “I did everything I wanted to do, and I’m so happy. All I cared about was the Olympics, so doing that was the greatest thing in the world. I didn’t even care that it was (6,353), as long as it was 6,150 (the Olympic A standard)”. [Read more…]
Lopes-Schliep, Mason achieve standards
Gossier, Guadeloupe – After taking a year off to give birth and in her first outdoor race since the Diamond League Final in September 2010, Priscilla Lopes-Schliep of Markham, Ont., finished third in the 100-metre hurdles at the Meeting International de Guadeloupe in an Olympic A standard time of 12.95 seconds.
