The marathon standards are set for the 2015 Pan American Games (Toronto, Ont.) and the 2015 World Championships (Beijing, China).
The 2015 Pan American Games standard is 2 hours and 18 minutes for the men and 2 hours and 40 minutes for the women.
The 2015 World Championships standard for the men is 2 hours and 15 minutes while the women’s standard stands at 2 hours and 35 minutes.
The qualifying window for the marathon at the Pan American Games and World Championships is January 1, 2014 to May 24, 2015.
Athletics Canada made the announcement today in conjunction with a press event in Toronto, Ont., previewing the October 19 Canada Running Series Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
To punctuate an already exciting week of Canadian road running in October, Athletics Canada is hosting, in conjunction with Canada Running Series and the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, the inaugural Race Roster National Race Directors Summit.
