BARCELONA- Shawnacy Barber of Toronto, Ont., has won Canada’s first medal at the 2012 World Athletics Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain.  Barber won bronze in the boys pole vault in a new Canadian junior record of 5.55-metres. Barber’s outstanding performance today places him second on the Canadian all-time list behind Douglas Wood’s 1991 performance of 5.61-metres. [Read more…]

OTTAWA- Athletics Canada’s entry at the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association) under-23 Championships won an amazing 18 medals over the course of the three day competition this weekend in Guanajuato, Mexico. Canada’s previous best event finish at this event was a haul of 17 medals at the 2010 edition held in the United States. The next edition of this event will take place in Kamloops, B.C., in 2014.
