Toronto – Reid Coolsaet of Hamilton, Ont., and Lanni Marchant of London, Ont., earned Canadian titles today at the Oasis Zoo Run which served as the Canadian Championship for the 10-kilometre road race distance. Rounding out the podium for the men were Eric Gillis of Antigonish, N.S., and Dylan Wykes of Kingston, Ont. Wykes and Kortchaguina win Eastside 10K
VANCOUVER. September 14th. Canadian Olympian Dylan Wykes and Toronto’s Lioudmila Kortchaguina, the current Canadian Women’s Marathon Champion, recorded impressive victories at Saturday’s inaugural Vancouver Eastside 10K, a Canada Running Series event. Wykes and Kortchaguina each collected a bonus for their new course records of 29:42 and 33:57 respectively, on top of the $800 first-place prizing. [Read more…]
Medals at Pan American
The Canadian Pan American Junior Championship team is coming home from Medellin, Colombia today with quite a bit of extra baggage after winning 19 medals over the course of the weekend. Canada enjoyed its best ever IAAF World Championship last week in Russia and the junior team kept that momentum going with five gold, seven silver, and seven bronze over the course of the three-day competition. Moscow – What an amazing day for Team Canada at the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship in Moscow, Russia. Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont., won bronze in the men’s high jump and set a Canadian Record of 2.38-metres while Matthew Hughes of Oshawa, Ont., placed sixth in the 3000-metres steeplechase final in a Canadian Record time of 8:11.64. Warner wins decathlon Bronze
Moscow – Damian Warner of London, Ont., won bronze today at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship. Warner finished the ten-event decathlon with a personal best score of 8512 points to earn the bronze medal, Canada’s first at this championship. Other Canadian highlights on day two of competition included Inaki Gomez of Vancouver, B.C., placing eight in the men’s 20-kilometre race walk with a seasonal best of 1:22:21. Moscow – A number of Canadian athletes recorded strong performances on the first day of competition at the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship in Athletics. Today’s Canadian highlights in Moscow, Russia include a best ever finish by a Canadian at the World Championships by St. Catharines, Ont., Mohammed Ahmed. Damian Warner of London, Ont., performed well in the first five of ten events in the decathlon to sit in fourth place while Aaron Brown of Toronto, Ont., and Gavin Smellie of Etobicoke, Ont., advanced to the semi-finals of the 100-metres. Burnaby, B.C. – Nine British Columbia athletes recorded victories at today’s Harry Jerome International Track Classic in Burnaby, B.C.
