Organizers of the Tamarack Homes Ottawa Race Weekend today confirmed 30-year-old Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya will compete in the 10K race on May 26, 2012.
In 2011, Mutai’s 2:03:02 finish at the Boston Marathon smashed both the course (2:05:52) and world records (2:03:59). His time was not ratified due to the point-to-point nature of the course (overall downhill). Last year he also set a course record in the New York City Marathon (2:05:06), ranking him first in the world in 2011.
An equally accomplished 10K racer, Geoffrey Mutai holds a personal best time of 27:19 from the inaugural Boston Athletic Association 10K race in 2011.
Geoffrey Mutai was not selected to represent Kenya in the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games.
