Canada – Since moving from running track, Rachel Cliff, has quickly emerged as a marathon runner of note, and the success that has followed could be considered somewhat staggering, considering she is now the Canadian National Record holder over the distance.
Rachel Cliff going the Marathon distance
Having lined up at the Nagoya Women’s Marathon in Japan, in March 2019, some 6 months after her Berlin Marathon debut, with the intention of having a good race, she didn’t have any idea that two hours, 26 minutes 56 seconds later, she would have broken the Canadian Women’s Marathon record by the large amount of 64 seconds.
“My reason for initially fearing marathons is why I’ve become to infatuated with them: when so much can go wrong the good ones are truly magical” – Rachel Cliff
But, she has, and she has now certainly booked her ticket to Tokyo 2020 and berth in the team to represent Canada over the marathon distance, and this after excruciatingly missing previous qualification over 5000m to become an Olympian in Rio 2016.
Tokyo 2020 on the horizon
2020 vision, has the Tokyo Olympic Marathon firmly on her horizon and her chance of becoming an Olympian.
Time-to-Run Canada wishes Rachel Cliff all the best in her quest
