Vantaa Marathon Running events keep attracting runners – Record number of runners expected to Vantaa Marathon this weekend
Vantaa Marathon 10th October 2015
Running events seem to keep attracting runners in increasing amounts across Finland. Vantaa Marathon, which is held in October in Tikkurila and its surroundings (only 16 km from Helsinki down town), is no exception.
Last year the event gathered over 1,900 runners across the three available fields: marathon, half marathon and a quarter marathon which they call a FunRun. This year the organisers are expecting at least the same amount of runners.
Majority of the runners participate in the half marathon, but the full marathon is not far off with its 700 already registered runners. Vantaa Marathon ranks withing the four largest marathon events in Finland, if only the marathon finishers are taken into account.
New Vantaa Marathon Day is Saturday 10.10.
To accommodate the runners coming from further and abroad the organisers have changed the race day from Sunday to Saturday.
It is not too late to register! You can still enter on the day of the event at the race office. If the weather is favourable on the day of the event the organisers are expecting a flux of last minute entrants to their office.
Vantaa Marathon Relay to attract new runners
This year Vantaa Marathon introduces a newbie – marathon relay – to the event. Relay will be run simultaneously with the full marathon in four quarter marathon legs. 4-staged relay will be run in separate categories for men and women. Women can be a part of a men’s team but not vise versa. Marathon relay is a fun way to involve your club, business or friends in a sporting filled day!
